Jack's First Flight

Well, it seems every year it gets a little earlier.  This time, we have crammed our bags, hauled a dog crate, and have a 70 lb Aussie in tow.  Getting there is half the battle, right? It started off well enough (albeit way, way too early in the morning!), Jack in the Box got his TSA inspection and hauled off to guard the luggage.  We went through screening and I promptly got a call from downstairs saying Jack's crate wasn't going to fly (no pun intended). A hasty return to check in, purchasing another crate (who knew you could get one at the airport?), one more time through TSA and we were finally on board in the nick of time! Whew, the crazy day was off to a wonderful start!

Sleepy Jack in Crate #1

1st stop: Seattle.  Mark's carryon was too big for overhead so they said it would be curbside in Seattle  We deboard and his suitcase isn't there.  His 4 1/2 month essentials kit was on the loose!  Getting to the terminal, I tried to turn around to let him know his suitcase wasn't at the door and he would have to go back and find it.  Travel tip: Don't do that.  It set off an alarm, I got yelled at, and they sent security out to get him.  After a few very frantic minutes (time to board again and no suitcase), we finally understood his carryon was checked all the way to Cabo. Crisis averted and we could stop being dramatic......

Jack managed to get loaded on each leg successfully, and soon we are waiting in the Cabo airport for his final inspection and clearance to be a Baja dog this winter. After what seemed like a very long wait (they took the paperwork to an office), they came back and said have a great stay!  Never even looked in the crate, haha!  Customs was an absolute breeze too! Pushed the button, got green for go and we are out of the airport greeting Steve and Vikki!

They were so sweet to come get us, and after squeezing our stuff into every possible square inch of their vehicle, we were on our way, chatting and laughing.  And then it happened. Bam!!!   A kamikaze cow barrels in front of the car and rolls up on the hood, rolls down in the ditch, and walks away.  The front of the car is crumpled and we have cow manure on the windshield.  But it drives like a top and we get back safe and sound.  Nothing like starting the trip off with a bang!

And as we are hearing more and more, "Be careful if you travel with the Herberts!

But our place looks great.  Everything is intact and we slept like rocks (with a little AC----we need a little acclimating this time of year!)  The Suburban even started up.  Things are looking good!

  11. 🀣🀣🀣 oh my goodness!!! Could you imagine if we traveled together??!! Udder chaos! (Sorry about that!) Whew! Jack had it good. It was probably better that he got the quiet peaceful seat. Frankly I’m surprised he got through customs so easily πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ that was an easy chaos-opportunity. But I’m crazy-glad to see you all there. And Mark’s travel-essentials made it too… this marks the start of a good season 😍 say “hi” to Steve and Vikki 😁 we’re bound to never actually meet them 🀦🏻‍♀️
